The Betty Tweedy Golf Classic is the annual tournament organized by the national sport and active living community in Ottawa for their colleagues, business partners and friends to join in a day of golf and fundraising.

The primary objective of the event is to increase awareness of and raise funds for cancer research locally for the benefit of our community. The tournament was named in honour of Betty Tweedy, a former sports administrator and an avid golf player following her death in 1987 from lung cancer. Betty's friends in the sport community continued the tradition of hosting an annual golf tournament and named the event in her memory.

For the past 25 years, the tournament has seen continuous growth in participants and corporate sponsors. Cumulative donations over the years from the Betty Tweedy Golf Classic which were made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation have exceeded $150,000. However, in the last 15 years our support has been directed only to the ORCF, to keep the funds in the local community. The 2011 event raised $21,500 alone! In 2012, we are again counting on your support to make it the largest and most memorable golf tournament ever.
